It’s been raining almost constantly since I arrived in Taipei some ten days ago,

…a far cry from my usual hot & dry West African habitat.

As beautiful as rain can be, life under the umbrella gets restrictive after too many days of downpour…

I was looking long for a beautiful skywatch picture, and at one point, the sky was even reddish behind the constant rain.

Had I been here for a holiday, my heart would have led me out of the city and into the wilderness, where I am sure that the palm trees are as beautiful as those of Niger. I am equally certain Taiwan is a beautiful country, but I have not been outside of Taipei, and bit cities always tend to look the same to me.

Finally – yesterday – I both saw AND caught the sun – during a brief moment while taking a taxi back to the hotel.

I only had a minute but I believe my camera did it justice. A glimpse of light coming through after days of sky tears!

On a different note, things have started to clear and as soon as I get better, I will try to update with a line of blog posts that have been waiting since my mother’s anniversary. I know you have many questions, and even though I am not sure I can answer them all, feel free to send them to me by email and I will do my very best to get back to you!
