After 48 hours of flying and spending the night with friends in Niamey, I took the bus to Zinder on Tuesday morning.

The journey was long (12 hours) but it was wonderful to be back in familiar landscape!

Waiting for me in Zinder were Anette and Sheba, who came to the bus station to meet me.

Here’s my view from the bus as we made it to the stop!

At first, Sheba didn’t see me coming,

…so I was able to sneak up from behind.

At first, she just greeted me like she would normally,

…but then she realised it was actually me (!!!) and she went wild!

Try these ridgeback hugs, they are powerful stuff!

Sheba was one happy, prancing girl!!

But so was I!

ME: “Don’t worry Shebes, I won’t be leaving you for a very long time!”

SHEBA: “You’d better not, Esther, for where you go, I’ll follow!”

Happy greetings from West Africa!
