Time is a treat, and so is nature.

There are few things as valuable in my books as an excursion away from civilization. Add some good company, and the enjoyment is complete.

Last Saturday, Anette and I took the dogs on a road trip to visit the Babul Lake. We didn’t mind arriving late in the afternoon because the sunsets in Niger are always a treat.

I love when the light plays on the water surface. I’m sure Daya was reflecting on this too… :-)

A Southern Grey Shrike flew past us,

…but for most of the time, things were still.

The sunset light grew pink at first,

…but then turned orange.

By the time the sun had left entirely, the moon took over on the other side, and it was time for us to go home. This was our first visit to the Babul Lake some 40km from Zinder, but it will definitively not be the last one!
