If find yourself hungry on a Saturday morning, Sheba knows exactly where to take you.

201106-p1490824

Just cross the road from where we live,

201106-p1490825

…and you come to our very own fast food service, where Salamatu is frying delicious beignets.

201106-p1490822

Beignet is French for bean donuts, which are deep fried in peanut oil and served with local chili powder. First they fry on one side,

201106-p1490829

…and then on the other, turning crispy and golden brown.

201106-p1490828

I love how she uses a little branch to turn them!

201106-p1490830

While we wait for the beignets to achieve the desired level of crispiness, Sheba does her usual round, making sure to “secure the grounds” (= checking diligently for any remnants of consumable bones which might of course be a danger to any younger canine passing by…),

201106-p1490835

…but when it’s time for us to be served, she comes to check on the quality. Smelling good, over there!

201106-p1490839

Since the Ark is full of beignet-loving creatures, we order beignets for one dollar.

201106-p1490841

Sheba thinks Salamatu takes forever measuring up those goodies.

201106-p1490844

But finally, our one-dollar worth morning treat is handed over to us,

201106-p1490846

…and we are ready to carry our treasure back home!

201106-p1490847

“I could help you with those,” Sheba says. It really looks awfully heavy for a single human to carry across the road, doesn’t it…?

201106-p1490852

Prancing beside me,

201106-p1490855

…Sheba can’t take her eyes off of the beignets.

201106-p1490859

“I could really help you with those.”

201106-p1490858

“Really. You know I’m great at carrying stuff!”

201106-p1490857

Of course, my darling in all honour, but I’m pretty certain that if I let her carry the beignets, there would not be much to party on once we arrive home.

201106-p1490883

And at home, eleven year old Azawakh cross Dennis is waiting eagerly for whatever the girls are so excited about.

201106-p1490888

Team Sheba watches the goodies as they are about to be distributed…

201106-p1490889

Focus is perfect!

201106-p1490892

And of course, so are the photoshooting opportunities!

201106-p1490896

201106-p1490870

Finally, the treats are being served!

201106-p1490881

Ronja: “You don’t know how long we waited for these…”

201106-p1490900

Dennis and Daya wants theirs on the floor (hunting instinct).

201106-p1490899

Ronja: “Did you forget about me?!”

201106-p1490901

Me: “No, Ronjisen, you just had one and it disappeared very quickly, as will this one, I’m sure.”

201106-p1490882

“Thankfully, there is enough for all!”
SHEBA: “Mmm-hmmm……………….”

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
