I’m taking the bus to Niamey tomorrow morning to team up with Anette, who is flying down for five weeks.

It’s been many months since she left and I can’t wait to be back in the bush with my best riding mate!

Discovering new places is one of our favourite hobbies and I’m sure there will be lots of new excursions during the weeks to come!

Just before our lives in Niger got disrupted during the year shift of 2009/2010, we rode to a place we’d never been before;

…far away from civilization, in a land so quiet time stands still.

The sunset was gorgeous,

…and perfect for profile shots!

Few things make our barb horses as happy as heading into unknown territory, and as Arwen looked out at the horizon awaiting us, she struck a stunning pose.

It’s always hard choosing a favourite… Can you?

In any case, welcome back Anette!! Looking forward to hitting the trails during the weeks to come!

Wow! So many great shots! But I have to admit I love the close-up of the horse which you used in the thumbnail at Skywatch!! But I had to scroll through a couple of times, before I made up my mind! All of your shots look to be far from civilization!!!

I can’t decide either which one of your shots would be a favorite … absolutely breathtaking!

Have a wonderful visit! These photos are glorious…but then, I’ve come to expect that. You live in a magical place.
Beautiful set of photos. My favorite is the second silhouette of Arwen’s head and neck. The one of the trees below it is gorgeous too. I wish Annette an wonderful visit.
I think my favorite is the next-to-last one of the trees silhouetted against the golden-and-orange sky–spectacular!
Wonderful day, wonderful captures…

Wow, like you say, so hard to choose, but if I had to, it would be the one with the sun behind the single tree. Stunning!
I had another look through the photo series, and then I saw the heart in the tree, so beautiful! It would be perfect for Clytie’s Guest Heart Thursday, at http://clytie-randomhearts.blogspot.com/
